March into spring!

If you aren't into DIY projects, skip this part...

This past month has been the month of home improvements. Most of our furniture is used from friends or Grandma's old furniture that is still at the house. After being obsessed about researching various ways of painting old furniture, I finally settled on using chalk paint. (This is totally different than chalkboard paint for you crafty ones out there.) Mixing Calcium Carbonate, Plaster of Paris, and water into regular latex paint makes an incredible mixture. It grabs on to surfaces like a leech and gives a deeper color to the latex paint. It is sealed simply with paste furniture wax or Polycrylic for a more durable finish. Chalk paint will even paint on laminate! I'm planning to try this too. My Pinterest page is exploding with articles on the subject! :-) What fun to actually be able to get a project completed!

Below are the two pieces before painting...the chest peeking out on the left, and the brown dresser under the window.

The chest drawers before their beautiful speckled, spattered finish was covered. :-)

SOOOO messy...but Daniel was so excited to help me that day.

After weeks of going out to the garage to paint after Danny was in bed, they were finished!

Found this cute owl hook at Hobby Lobby.
I used removable picture hanging strips to mount it to the chest.
I stenciled the red chevron onto each drawer front. I love it!

Now for the rest of life...

Daniel just hangin' out enjoying his new cushion. Another DIY project. :-)

Exploring the cabinets. :-/

Fun with Grandpa's talking clothespin!

This cracked us up...wearing Grandma's glasses. I'm thankful he doesn't need them!

Danny loves stirring the ice cream and takes his job quite
seriously...I could almost let him do it on his own!

Daniel quite often falls asleep on the way home from teaching. Guess it's just too exciting over there!

What a fun shot!! Just happened to get it!

Daddy entertaining the wiggler after a wedding last Saturday.

Daniel learned how to get up into the chair all by himself...and crawl across the table...and crawl up the piano bench and stand on the keys with his knees...and fall off. Needless to say, these activities have been banned.

Honking Daddy's nose is one of Daniel's favorite activities! Sometimes he will even hum and match the pitch that Chris is honking at. :-)

One day Daniel plopped onto the couch I use to teach and sat there waiting for my student to play, so Nicole obliged him...then he had to go back downstairs where Grandma was waiting for him.

He loves having things stacked up on top of his head.

We were able to visit with Talitha, Andrew, and Naomi over at the Gilchrist's house last Sunday.

Blake is always asking me to take pictures while he is sitting in my lap. Here's one of the hundreds I probably have.

I love the clouds at this time of year.

A little chickadee making his home in our neighbor's tree.

He posed for me, so I snapped it. Guess he has seen the camera too many times.

FUN with Daddy in the back!!!

Rocks are the best toy a little boy could ever ask for!
