Bible Time, Books

We started doing "Bible Time" with Daniel after dinner. After several weeks of Daniel being too noisy for the "cry room" at church, we decided to work on sitting still a little each day. He has improved greatly in a month's time and now he begs Chris to read every night. He run excitedly over to the book and loves sitting on Daddy's lap. He's even started folding his hands by himself for prayer time. What a fun and beneficial tradition!

Daniel enjoyed all the other kid's toys at my friend Donna's baby shower. After seeing this adorable Quiet Book that one of Donna's friends made, my creative juices are going crazy. I've had WAY too much fun crafting up a storm this past month and now I have more plans for the future!

Isn't this the cutest thing!? The socks are magnetic and Daniel had fun putting them in the dryer over and over and over again.

He was thrilled with this squeaky toy. You know, I don't think he has ever had a squeaky toy!

The 16 year old!! Wow! What big mouths my brothers have! :-) Homemade ice cream! Yum!

Danny LOVES playing with all of Aunt Jamie's books. Mom suggested getting some "trainer" books for him since I don't want him ripping up all the nice children's books people gave me at the shower. So, today I went to Savers and man did I save!! These books were $0.69 each, plus buy 3 get one free. Daniel has had so much fun with them today and has sat down multiple times to read them. Then he brings them over to me to have me read them to him.

 I didn't pose this!

Guess what? Daniel had pizza for the first time tonight!! Thought I should get a picture since he is destined to be crazy over pizza. He liked it, but someday hopefully he can try some with cheese. Then he really will be crazy over pizza!!

TTFN!

Bridge Building Contest

Every year since the beginning of time (at least my time), Dad has been basically running the Colorado High School Bridge Building Competition hosted by his work. High schoolers across the state make bridges out of balsa wood and bring them to be squashed by Dad's testing machine to measure their efficiency. (I hope Dad doesn't read my take on what he does. :-)

One highlight of the day is seeing the corner of the building swarming with Boy Scouts vying for contestant's money. Yes, it's true, for the cheap price of...you can have a heaping bowl of soggy nachos, a hot dog that has been heating since 6am, or a soda pop that may or may not be cold. Least they quite plugging in quite so many crock pots into one outlet. They used to trip the the circuit breaker multiple times throughout the morning. Maybe they've started earning a Merit Badge on electricity and circuit breakers.

We brought Daniel to experience these traditions, only problem is is that we got there as soon as it was over. :-\ Oh well, we still got to help clean up, which is also part of the tradition!!

Waiting for clean-up to commence.

The soon-to-be rocket scientist going back to her roots. Graduation = May 9th!!!

Daniel is in love with clocks...he thought this scale was a clock.

All these skinny dudes couldn't quite get the scale up to its 550 lb. limit!

Mark, Peter, and Jacob receiving an "award" (or piece of paper) from Dad's boss to thank them for all their help. They spend the day before helping Dad set up and the whole contest day helping out. They could run it single-handedly, but Dad decided it doesn't look good to have "little kids" running it.

The BIG testing machine.

All the duct tape collected while cleaning up.

Daniel finally likes sunglasses. He realized that he can see through them and now he seems quite pleased with them. After that day, he started taking my see-through food container lids and holding them up to his eyes. He seems to like the tinted light.

The fog room where all the concrete cylinders are stored. You can see quite a few of them on the floor behind Chris.
